J.R.R. Tolkien said it best: not all those who wander are lost. As one of those wanderers, I agree.

I grew up in sunny, southern California, in a homeschooled family of six (we even have the van!). My flexible schedule permitted lovely times of writing, during which I wrote drafts that will never see daylight but were milestones all the same. Somewhere around my fifteenth year I knew I wanted to craft stories and that they would always be a big part of who I am.

After highschool, I ambled about a bit. Took some community college classes, had my gall bladder removed after a particularly difficult season, and attended Calvary Chapel Bible College. I transferred to Europe for my two final semesters, living in Siegen, Germany and York, England. Those two trips changed me for good, broadening my imagination and deepening my faith.

When I returned home, deep in the middle of so many unknowns, I decided to pursue my writing passion. I read. I learned. I attended conferences. I’m still learning, still growing. I’m not who I was back then, and neither are my stories. One day, I’ll look back and see a beautiful journey.

I married the man of my dreams, my rugged, mountain man. My devoted scholar. Together, we’ve hiked and fallen in love with National Parks.

I discovered that I’ve some small talent in the baking/decorating world. There’s nothing more therapeutic than icing a cake.

And I write. I always will. Stories of intrigue, of finding courage, of facing off against the darkness. Characters who find they are more than they seem, and fight for that which they love. Of worlds familiar, yet fantastical.

Because we need adventures. We need the battles. We need our courage.

I hope you find yours

Wander and Wonder,

Kaitlyn
